Frequently Asked Questions
What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a natural system of medicine, first discovered and developed over 200 years ago by a German Physician called Samuel Hahnemann.
Homeopathic remedies are safe, non-toxic and inexpensive.
Remedies are safe to use on adults, children, pregnant women, animals, and babies alike.
The Homeopath seeks to find the root of the cause of the health disturbance. This is in contrast to main-stream medicine which seeks to suppress symptoms.
Homeopathy stimulates the body to heal itself, naturally and gently.
Why should I use Homeopathy?
There are so many reasons to use Homeopathy. Check out 17 reasons why on this page:
What and Why?
What should I expect during my first appointment?
Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine which looks at the person as a whole, and not just as a sum of all their parts.
The first 90 minute appointment is a conversation between the patient and Homeopath. Subsequent appointments are usually around 45 minutes.
We will talk about the symptoms that brought you to me, your past health issues during your life, your medical family history, and possibly any emotional or traumatic events in your life.
Often patients experience and 'ah-ha' moment when they can connect a life event to the start of a health issue.
It is up to you how much informaiton you give about yourself and it, of course, takes time to build a relationship with me. It's therefore important to find out first if we are a good fit.
To find out whether we could work well together, book yourself in for a FREE 15 minute no-ogligation discovery call.
Can Homeopathy be used alongside the treament I'm currently receiving from my Doctor?
YES! Absolutely! As your Homeopath I'm seeking to support you in what ever ways required.
Homeopathy works well along side conventional treatments and does not require you to cease any medication you may already be on.
It does help however, if you can let me know which medicines you are taking.
How should I prepare for my first appointment?
Usually, we'll have had a quick 15 minute introductory chat and if required, I'll let you know then or via email if we need any information before we start our first appointment.
You need only yourself, a good internet connection with access to Zoom or Skype, and a quiet space where we can talk.
If you are taking any medications, a list of them would be helpful.
How do I know how to contact you once I have booked an appointment?
After you've booked your appointment, you'll receive either a Zoom meeting request or a link to add me to your Skype contacts.
My preferred method of contact is via Zoom and it's super easy to set up and use.
If that is not possible, reply to my confirmation email and we can discuss other possibilities.
Do you treat chronic conditions?
It's all too common that I hear patients say that their doctors can do nothing more for them, or their doctors don't even believe that there is anything wrong.
Most of these situations involve long term conditions, which just don't seem to get better under conventional treatment.
With Homeopathy we try to get to the cause of the illness - right back to the centre of when it all started and work forward from there.
Whether chronic or acute, Homeopathy can help.
How many appointments do I need?
The answer to that question is as individual as every patient. The ultimate goal is only 2 appointments. One initial 90 minute appointment and one 45 minute follow up.
It is more often the case that more appointments are needed as the layers of the health issue are peeled away.
Once the presenting health issue has been dealt with, healing begins and we can start to get deeper into the body to treat the root cause. This can take a number of months, or even moving into a year, depending on how long and how severley the issue is being experienced.
Even if treatment moved into a longer term plan, in comparison to a life time of pain and medication, it's a fraction of the cost.
How do you incorporate Nutritional Therapy into your practice?
Quite often I find that patients also need some help in cleaning up their nutrition a little bit.
It's is always up to you, how much you follow any nutritional advice, but some health issues may be prevented from healing properly if there is a nutritional issue that's not being address.
I also offer nutritional advice, without Homeopathy. Consultations are the same length and cost and health conditions such as: Leaky Gut, IBS, Crones Disease, Coeliacs, Weight loss, transitioning to a plant based diet, and so on, can be treated.
What are the FOUR types of Homeopathic Treatment?
1: First Aid
Homeopathic First Aid can be safely used at home to treat common ailments and conditions, such as sprains and bruises, minor burns, skin irritations and reactions (including poison ivy, nappy rash and insect bites), teething pain, etc.
2: Acute Homeopathy
Acute health problems are those in which the symptoms will eventually go away on their own or have been present for 10 weeks or less. They are temporary conditions, such as colds, flu, coughs, sprains, etc. A homeopathic remedy can speed up the recovery of the health issue, such as colds, flu, post surgery healing etc. Homeopathy can also be used to assist sensitive conditions such as pregnancy and childbirth.
3: Constitutional Homeopathy
Constitutional homeopathy refers to the treatment of a person as a whole, including past and present symptoms. When accurately implemented, homeopathic constitutional care can elicit a profound healing response. This form of treament is appropriate for chronic or recurring conditions. Recurrent ear infections, for example, can be treated with a homeopathic remedy for a longer period of time to strengthen the body’s immune system and to prevent future occurrences. Or menstrual issues, including pain, headaches, heavy bleeding etc. Constiutional remedies are usually prescribed by a trained Homeopath as careful questioning is required in order to select the appropriate remedy.
4: Miasmatic Homeopathy
Miasmatic Homeopathy is a very deep acting form of prescribing where the trained Homeopath looks for threads of symptoms that run through family medical histories. Miasmatic prescribing is like a cleaning out of negative epigenetic influences and needs to be done with the supervision of a practitioner.
